Refunds & Returns

At House of Amila, we want you to love the art you bring into your space. We stand behind the quality of our premium canvas prints and aim to make the returns process as straightforward as possible.
1. Cooling-Off Period (Change of Mind)
Under the Consumer Protection Act (Section 16), you have the right to cancel your order and return the goods for any reason within 5 business days after you receive delivery.
Conditions:
- The artwork must be unused, in its original condition, with all protective packaging intact (no damage, marks, or removal of hanging hardware).
- Return shipping costs are your responsibility unless the return is due to our error.
- We will refund the full purchase price (excluding original shipping fees) once we receive and inspect the returned item.
How to return for change of mind:
- Contact us within 5 business days of receipt at info@houseofamila.com with your order number.
- We will provide return instructions and a returns address in Johannesburg.
- Package the item securely and ship it back (tracked courier recommended).
- Once received and approved, we process your refund to the original payment method within 10–14 business days.
2. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items
If your canvas print arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered:
- Report the issue within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos of the damage/packaging and the product.
- We will arrange collection at our cost (South Africa only) or provide return instructions for international customers.
- Remedies (at your choice and subject to availability):
– Full refund (including original shipping)
– Replacement print
– Repair (if feasible)
We take pride in our printing and packaging standards, so issues like these are rare. When they occur, we resolve them quickly.
3. Made-to-Order / Custom Products
Most of our canvas prints are made-to-order and personalised to your selected size and specifications. For this reason:
- They are generally non-returnable and non-refundable for change of mind.
- Exceptions apply only in cases of manufacturing defects, printing errors, or damage during transit (covered under section 2 above).
4. Non-Returnable Situations
We cannot accept returns or issue refunds in these cases:
- Change of mind after the 5-business-day cooling-off period.
- Items returned without prior approval or outside the allowed timeframe.
- Damage caused after delivery (e.g., improper handling, exposure to sunlight/humidity, accidental damage).
- Items that have been hung, framed further, or altered in any way.
- Partial returns of multi-item orders (unless the entire order qualifies).
5. How Refunds Are Processed
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
- Processing time: 10–14 business days after we receive and inspect the returned item.
- We do not offer cash refunds or store credit unless mutually agreed.
- Original shipping fees are non-refundable except when the return is due to our error (faulty/incorrect/damaged item).
6. International Returns
For customers outside South Africa:
- Return shipping costs are your responsibility (even for faulty items, unless we arrange otherwise).
- We recommend using a tracked courier.
- Any customs duties or taxes paid on import are non-refundable.
